If you are unable to attend a General Meeting (GM), you can assign another member to vote for you as a 'proxy'. This helps us accomplish a few things:

1) It makes sure that your voting rights as a member are being used.
2) It makes sure that our meetings are able to meet quorum so that the body is able to vote on resolutions

If you have a particular member that you trust to represent you, please indicate that member in the form so that we are able to assign your vote to them if they are available. Otherwise, the chair(s) of the meeting will assign your requested proxy to someone present who will mark your vote as "abstain".

We always hope you are able to attend our GMs so that you can engage in our collective work, but assigning a proxy is a tool provided by the bylaws to make sure your vote is still counted when you can't make it.
